Social Activities

Mamco Jan Kalyan Trust

The Mamco Bank, considered the economic lifeline of Malegaon, established the Mamco Jan Kalyan Trust in the bank’s Silver Jubilee year, 1987. Initially, the bank contributed ₹2 lakhs to form the trust. The core objective was to provide services beyond banking with a sense of social responsibility.

The trust was founded by Shri Harilalsheth Asmar with the aim of offering affordable medical services to the poor and needy. Bank members generously donated two years' worth of dividends for the trust. Over time, 10% of the bank’s profit was regularly contributed to the trust.

In the beginning, the trust supported only major surgeries for those with weak financial backgrounds. Eventually, it expanded to offer ambulance services from 1992, conduct regular blood donation camps, and provide medical aid through various initiatives.

The trust has conducted medical camps for general health, gynecology, dental care, dermatology, and diabetes. It has played a vital role in diagnosing and conducting low-cost surgeries for patients in need.

On July 18, 1997, the trust inaugurated a 25-bed hospital on Camp Road in Malegaon with modern facilities. Daily medical consultations and surgeries are performed at minimal charges. Expert doctors have been appointed for this hospital.

The mobile medical van travels to surrounding villages and continues to provide consistent healthcare services in remote areas.

From an educational and social perspective, the trust organizes annual felicitation programs for meritorious students who excel in 10th and 12th board exams. It also hosts seminars and lectures by intellectuals and thinkers.

On January 26, 2001, during the devastating earthquake in Gujarat, directors of the bank, doctors, and medical supplies along with ambulances were sent under the leadership of the trust to provide emergency relief.

The trust hospital also provides honorary specialist services, including sonography, dermatology, orthopedics, ENT, pediatrics, and psychiatric care one day a week.

It was the first organization in Malegaon to start a mortuary van service. After the bomb blasts on 8th September 2006, the trust was the first to send an ambulance to the site and provided medical aid and over 100 bottles of blood for the injured. Free health checkups were conducted for police officials from outside the city, with active involvement from all trustees.

Every year during the 10-day pilgrimage to Shri Khandoba Temple at Chandnapuri, the trust provides free medical aid through its mobile clinic. Similarly, it supports devotees climbing Saptashrungi Fort with free checkups and medication.

The Mamco Jan Kalyan Trust goes beyond banking by continuously conducting numerous medical, educational, and social initiatives for the community.
